Discoloration from spider veins on your legs and face make you feel self-conscious about your skin. While cosmetic veins may not be a threat to your health, it’s understandable to want to clear them away with treatment!
At Renew Aesthetics, we offer two fantastic options for cosmetic vein treatments in Rogers at our med spa in Northwest Arkansas: sclerotherapy and Excel® V laser. Here, we will discuss the differences between varicose veins and spider veins, how our affiliate clinic Ozark Regional Vein Center treats veins affecting your health, and our top treatments for cosmetic veins at Renew.
The difference between varicose veins and spider veins
Kendra from Renew Aesthetics explains the difference between varicose veins and spider veins 👇
Varicose veins are veins that bulge out from the skin and can be painful. Certain types of clothing can exacerbate the pain from varicose veins. With varicose veins, the issue is more than cosmetic; we treat these types of veins at our affiliate company, Ozark Regional Vein Center!
Several factors can cause the formation of varicose veins. Some people are predisposed to them genetically, while life factors like excessive standing, pregnancy, menopause, aging over 50, and obesity can trigger them to form.
The most unfortunate aspect of having varicose veins is that they can impact your quality of life. They can be painful, make your legs feel heavy, and cause you to only wear certain types of clothing. For many people, varicose veins can make them feel self-conscious of the appearance of their skin as well.
The good news is that Ozark Regional Vein Center specializes in treating varicose veins. With multiple treatment options available, the Vein Center team can find the best varicose vein treatment for your unique concerns with a consultation.
Cosmetic spider veins
Spider veins are smaller, thread-like veins that can appear on the legs and face. Spider vein causes are mostly genetic, but other factors like age, obesity, and hormone levels can cause them.
If the spider veins are only cosmetic and are not causing pain, we can treat them at Renew Aesthetics with sclerotherapy injections in the legs or Excel® V laser treatment on the face. Keep reading to learn more details about these two cosmetic vein treatments in Rogers at Renew!
Free vein screenings at Ozark Regional Vein Center
Before we dive deeper into Renew’s sclerotherapy and Excel® V vein treatments, let’s discuss why we always ensure that the veins we treat at Renew Aesthetics are purely cosmetic.
Why we recommend vein screenings for everyone
We always want to catch any vein medical issues early before they become a more significant issue for our patients. The earlier we catch larger vein issues, the easier it is to treat them in our patients. Health insurance may also cover your vein treatments at Ozark, which is always a preferred option for those with medical vein issues.
Ozark Regional Vein Center offers a virtual vein screening tool and in-person free vein screening events.
Sclerotherapy | Cosmetic Vein Treatment in Rogers
Once we confirm that the veins you’re treating at Renew Aesthetics are cosmetic, we can determine the best treatment for you! If you’re treating cosmetic veins in the legs, this would be sclerotherapy injections.
What it is
Sclerotherapy is one of our cosmetic vein treatments in Rogers at Renew for both cosmetic varicose veins and spider veins. It eliminates those small, thread-like veins on your body in a quick 30-minute process.
Sclerotherapy works by injecting a solution directly into the skin to destroy unwanted shades of red, blue, and purple that come with spider and smaller varicose veins to reveal the smooth, even skin you’ve always wanted!
After sanitizing your legs before treatment, your provider will inject the sclerotherapy solution into your veins. You will feel a slight prick, but there is no local anesthetic required for pain. The process takes no longer than 1 hour; we complete most procedures in 30 minutes!
Once injected, the solution then works to irritate the vein and forces it to swell and block blood flow to clear your skin.
Aftercare and results
After your sclerotherapy, you will need to move your legs around to promote blood flow. For the best results, wear compression bandages for 2 weeks after the treatment. As the weeks go by, you’ll notice clearer skin! Often sclerotherapy helps improve other symptoms that come with spider veins like itching, aching, heaviness, and night cramps.
Sclerotherapy Injections Frequently Asked Questions
Does sclerotherapy hurt?
As with any injections, the injections for sclerotherapy cause some discomfort. The discomfort is so minimal that it does not require any anesthetic.
Does sclerotherapy work right away?
Sclerotherapy results are progressive, meaning the results improve over time. You’ll notice improvements during the following weeks after your treatment. For the best results, wear compression bandages for the 2 weeks after your sclerotherapy treatment.
What should I avoid after sclerotherapy?
Avoid lack of movement directly after your sclerotherapy treatment. You should move your legs around to promote blood flow and help the treatment work as best as it can.
Excel® V Laser | Cosmetic Vein Treatment in Rogers
After determining that the veins we’re treating are cosmetic, we will determine the right vein treatment for you. If you’re looking to treat facial veins, this will likely be Excel® V laser.
What it is
Excel® V laser helps to reduce the appearance of vascular conditions and unwanted pigmentation for clear, even-toned skin.
Our Excel® V laser uses innovative technology to treat abnormal vessels and veins. Blood vessels absorb pulses of green light and transform the light energy into heat. This heat destroys abnormal vessels, eliminating rosacea and other forms of discoloration.
To manage excessive heat and to ensure patient safety and comfort, the hand-piece comes with a cooling system to regulate the temperature throughout treatment.
Excel® V laser treats a wide variety of skin concerns for a more even tone, including:
- Red and blue facial veins
- Sun damage
- Telangiectasia (small facial veins)
Before being treated with Excel® V, you’ll meet with one of our specialists to determine if this is the best treatment for you. We will examine the treatment area(s). We know that all of our patients are different, so we take the time to understand your unique concerns and goals with treatment.
We will also work to determine how many treatments you will need, which vary from patient to patient. For small veins and superficial vascular lesions, you may only need one treatment! Of course, we can assess your results after treatment and change up the number of treatments in your plan as needed.
Your laser technician will adjust the Excel® V laser settings to customize your treatment for your skin tone and specific vascular conditions. Then, they will use the CoolView handpiece to send pulses of light energy to the treatment area. You may feel slight pain during this process; some patients say it feels like a quick snap.
The entire process takes between 15 to 30 minutes. Once it’s complete, you may have some redness which is totally normal. This should subside.
We may recommend you to complete multiple treatments for best results from our cosmetic vein treatments in Rogers. This is especially common if you have deeper vessel abnormalities. We may schedule a followup appointment after about weeks to check in on your results and assess if another treatment is necessary.
Excel® V Frequently Asked Questions
Is Excel® V laser painful?
Patients describe the treatment feeling like a slight stinging or quick snap with the pulses of light during treatment. To ensure patient comfort, we use the CoolView system handpiece to regulate temperature. After your treatment, discomfort is minimal to none!
How long does Excel® V last?
How long Excel® V lasts depends on each patient. For some, their spider veins may come back because of genetics after a couple of years; they will get a top up treatment.
Is Excel® V safe?
Yes! We only offer services that are safe and backed by science. The CoolView handpiece ensures your comfort and safety throughout the treatment.
