Hormone Therapy Results for Women in Arkansas

A woman’s body is a complicated machine. It’s an organism built of thousands of moving parts, all working together so you stay healthy. It’s not a perfect machine though, and lots can go wrong. Sometimes, even the chemicals in our blood can malfunction, leaving us feeling drained, tired, and depressed.

But thanks to the advancements in modern medical technology, Renew Aesthetics can treat unbalanced hormones. The benefits of hormone therapy for women are numerous, and the treatment itself is self-administered and simple. You won’t have to endure any long treatments or post-care rehabilitation.

What does hormone imbalance look like?

Hormone imbalance can manifest itself in many different ways. And while there are many symptoms, they’re not necessarily distinct from other conditions. Furthermore, if you have pre-existing anxiety or mood disorders, you could very well miss the signs of hormone imbalance altogether. Common indicators that you’re suffering from a hormone imbalance include:

  • Memory loss
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Weight gain
  • Mood swings
  • Decline in sex drive
  • Brain fog

None of these symptoms are exclusive to hormone imbalance, so don’t assume you need hormone treatment just because you’re feeling lethargic or sad. That being said, if you’re dealing with these symptoms and you’re unsure why, hormone treatment could be a solution.

Talk to Us

The first step in effective hormone therapy for women starts before the treatment even begins. It’s always important to start with an in-depth consultation. If you’ve noticed that you’re suffering from any of the above symptoms and think that hormone replacement might be a solution, we’ll sit down with you for a consultation.

A member of our team discusses hormone therapy with a patient

We’ll ask you questions and try to decide if you’re suffering from hormonal imbalance. Once we determine that you could be a suitable candidate for hormone therapy, we can begin customizing a specific treatment plan for you. Our treatment plans are always built with a specific patient in mind.

Men and Women

Biologically, men and women are different in many ways, and this is evident in their hormones. Hormonally speaking, biological men are much simpler than women. Women’s hormones are more complex, and as a result, we need to take more time to ensure that our hormone treatment plan is effective and safe for our patients.

Men’s hormone therapy is complicated in its own right, but our female patients require an extra degree of detail. During our consultation, we’ll take the time to ensure that you don’t have any pre-existing medical conditions that might put you at risk during hormone therapy.

We also need to take a moment to discuss why many women choose to schedule hormone therapy in the first place.

Menopause

One of the major reasons that women schedule hormone therapy is because of menopause. Menopause is a natural part of a woman’s life, and it can heavily disrupt a woman’s body.

Her mood may shift for no apparent reason, and she may even notice physical changes, like hot flashes. This is why many women opt for hormone therapy; they want to keep their mood stable and feel more secure in their bodies.

As women’s  hormones are rebalanced, they might find that some of their more severe menopause symptoms lessen. They may no longer need to worry about mood changes or intense hot flashes. Menopause can be a debilitating time in a woman’s life, but hormone therapy can help make it a little more manageable.

Thyroid Cancer

Another consideration we need to make as we prescribe hormone therapy for women is thyroid cancer.

Thyroid cancer is a serious issue in this country. In 2023 alone, the United States has seen over 40,000 new cases of thyroid cancer, resulting in over 2,000 deaths. We have to consider the dangers of thyroid cancer while we develop a hormone therapy plan for women, especially because thyroid cancer is more common in women than men.

The risk for thyroid cancer could be exacerbated, depending on the hormones that we prescribe for our patients, so as we conduct our consultation, we’ll be sure to determine if you’re at an increased risk for this serious disease.

Hormonal Benefits

Hormone therapy for women has many benefits. Lots of our patients are here for the emotional benefits. Hormone therapy can leave you feeling much more refreshed and enthusiastic than you were before. You may feel younger, like your zest for life has returned.

In a way, it may feel as if you’ve returned from a long vacation, like you’re finally “yourself” again. Lots of people walk around feeling angry, sad, or confused, but many of them wouldn’t even consider that hormonal imbalance might be the cause.

How to Administer Your Hormones

When you hear the term “hormone therapy,” you may picture a serious, in-depth surgery, but hormone therapy is surprisingly convenient. In fact, depending on the treatment plan, there may not be a procedure at all. We have two methods of hormone distribution: pills and pellets.

Pills and pellets are both good choices for hormone therapy for women. While the pellet method does require a short and simple procedure, it won’t require an extensive surgery, and you may find that it’s even more convenient than pills.

Pills

For some of our patients, we simply prescribe hormone pills. You’d take these like a multivitamin. We’ll tell you how often you should take these pills, and then we’ll send you home. It really is as simple as that. If you’re unhappy with your results, or if you have questions about your treatment plan, just reach out to us.

We’d be more than happy to schedule an appointment to discuss. Hormone therapy can be quite complicated, so we want to ensure that you’re comfortable every step of the way.

Pellets

This method of hormone therapy requires us to insert a series of small pellets underneath the skin. We do this by making a small cut in your hip and placing the pellets inside. We numb this area before insertion, so discomfort should be minimal. Once the pellets are inserted, they will begin to pump hormones directly into the bloodstream.

This treatment lasts for about three months, so you won’t have to worry about any consistent upkeep. For three months, these pellets can do your job for you. So while some people may not prefer the initial pellet procedure to the pills, others might find the pellets to be a convenient alternative. Either way, these methods allow for a safe and steady hormone rebalancing.

Hormone Results

It’s important to note that everyone’s body is different, so everyone’s body will react differently to hormone therapy for women. Some people might see their symptoms disappear very quickly, but others may need to wait a while before they feel their mood stabilize. If your body does take a while to show results, this is not necessarily a sign that the hormone therapy isn’t working.

The body has to absorb the hormones, and this process might take a short while. Feel free to reach out to our team if you have any further questions about the hormone therapy timeline. We can discuss your results, and if need be, we could schedule an appointment to evaluate any further hormone treatments.

Weight Gain

Some women believe if they start hormone therapy, they’ll gain weight at an increased rate. Luckily, there’s no evidence to support this claim. While it’s true that some women will gain weight during menopause, this is not directly related to hormone therapy. Hormone imbalance, on the other hand, can cause weight gain.

Certain hormones tell your body how to manage food intake, and if those are unbalanced, the body might begin to store excess fat.

If you’re worried about gaining weight, it might be in your best interest to consider hormone therapy for women. We have lots of different methods for weight loss at Renew, so if your primary objective is to shed a few pounds, you have options!
