Stop Excessive Sweating in Rogers This Summer

Nobody likes excessive sweating. In Rogers, patients frequently come to us wondering if there’s a solution for their uncomfortable perspiration situation. We don’t blame them for being frustrated. Sweating too much can make you uncomfortable in certain types of clothing and fabrics. You may feel embarrassed in social situations.

It’s normal to perspire when working out, in higher temperatures, or even in times of stress. However, it’s not normal to sweat without a “reason.” Excessive sweating for no reason is often a symptom of other conditions or issues.

While everyone knows sweating is a natural part of being human, it doesn’t feel good to bare your underarm sweat stains for all to see.

The good news is that you don’t have to live with excessive underarm sweat. Renew Aesthetics is here to help tackle any and all excessive sweating in Rogers!

About Hyperhidrosis

So, what do we mean when we talk about excessive sweating in Rogers? The technical term is Hyperhidrosis. This condition is characterized by excessive sweating in unusual scenarios where sweating shouldn’t occur, like in cold weather.

Hyperhidrosis is sweating when it’s unnecessary, creating an uncomfortable experience for you. It’s a relatively common concern that affects 4.8% of Americans, which is about 15.3 million people!

There are two types of hyperhidrosis: secondary generalized and primary focal.

Secondary generalized hyperhidrosis is when excessive sweating is a secondary symptom of a condition or side effect of medication. There are many medical conditions and medications that can cause secondary generalized hyperhidrosis. Therefore, it’s important that you speak with your doctor about treatment for this condition.

Primary focal hyperhidrosis is when excessive sweating occurs in specific areas of the body, including feet, hands, face, head, and underarms.

Symptoms

Common symptoms of excessive sweating, or Hyperhidrosis, include:

  • Family history of hyperhidrosis
  • Sweating that affects your daily activities and relationships
  • Excessive sweating in unusual conditions without environmental factors. (Basically, sweating for no reason.)
  • Antiperspirants and deodorants not helping the sweating and odor
  • Need for a frequent change of clothes

Now that we have an overview of the symptoms of hyperhidrosis let’s go over treatment options.

Underarm Hyperhidrosis treatment in Rogers

At Renew Aesthetics, we offer a cutting-edge treatment for patients struggling with excessive sweating in Rogers: miraDry®

miraDry®

miraDry® is the only non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment that significantly reduces the size of underarm sweat and odor glands to treat axillary hyperhidrosis. It uses thermal energy to generate heat in the underarm and safely eliminates sweat and odor glands in the area.

Our underarms’ sweat glands account for 2% of the body’s total sweat glands. So, you can still sweat for the natural benefits of it WITHOUT the bothersome effects of excessive underarm sweat.

Bonus: miraDry® can also work as an effective hair reduction treatment! It leads to a 70% reduction in all hair colors after one treatment. You will notice a change in the amount of hair growth and the thickness and density of hair present after treatment.

miraDry® Treatment Process

Consultation

Before hyperhidrosis treatment, you’ll complete a free consultation with one of our medical professionals. We’ll examine your underarms and then create a personalized treatment plan for you.The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient. Most patients will complete 2 to 3 treatments to gain long-term results.

miraDry® Excessive Sweating Treatment

The miraDry® treatment process only takes about 1 hour. Your Renew specialist will first apply a local anesthetic to reduce any pain during treatment. We will then apply a temporary tattoo to the treatment area to ensure accuracy and precision for targeting sweat glands. Last, we’ll use the miraDry® handpiece to send electromagnetic energy to destroy sweat and odor glands.

Let’s Talk Expectations Pre & Post-Care

Pre-Treatment

Preparation for treatment is pretty light. MiraDry® is, after all, comfortable and quick with virtually zero downtime. There’s very little you have to do to prepare.

Shave

The biggest ticket item when preparing for hyperhidrosis treatments is that you should shave both underarms a few days before. We will shave you again prior to treatment. You may wonder why we ask you to shave before shaving you again. We promise it’s not just to make you jump through hoops. The main reason is to reduce irritation.

Sweat glands are connected to hair follicles, so having your hair recently shaved lets us identify the follicles without the stress on your skin of a long-hair shave. A little bit of stubble still allows us to easily identify the area you’d like treated without unnecessary stress on your underarms as we go to treat it.

Unfortunately, if you forget to shave, we will in many cases—but not all, so make sure to talk to us first—to see if we need to reschedule your treatment.

Day Of Treatment

There are a few things to keep in mind on the day of your miraDry® treatment. Here’s what you should make sure to keep in mind:

No Deodorant

Do not wear any deodorant or antiperspirant. While great for tackling unwanted smells, they actually make treatment more difficult because it adds an extra layer of obstruction to your skin. We will always shave you before treatment, so there is the potential that we will remove your application. But if not, we will need to spend time cleaning your skin in your underarm.

While not necessarily something that will require us to reschedule, it might cause your treatment to take longer than otherwise necessary. And while we love spending time with you, most patients don’t want treatment to take a while.

Wear Loose Clothing

We also encourage patients to wear clothes with loose arm holes to easily access the treatment site (e.g., tank top, sports bra, or camisole). This will also improve comfort post-treatment, as many patients experience slight tenderness, and rubbing against clothes can make that more uncomfortable.

Post-Treatment

While still a simple, pleasant process, there’s slightly more involved in caring for your underarms and skin post-treatment. So let’s talk about it!

Ice

We offer our patients a cold compress immediately after their treatment, but we also encourage you to ice the treated area using towel-wrapped ice packs and use non-prescription anti-inflammatory medication to reduce swelling.

The treatment area will be a little tender for the next few days after treatment, though it should not be painful or uncomfortable. Continue icing as needed over the next few days.

Keep Clean

We hope this goes without saying, but make sure to keep the treated area clean. The best way to do this is to wash with water and gentle liquid soap and apply an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment to prevent infection.

Avoid Irritants

Avoid shaving or applying antiperspirant or deodorant for the next few days. If deodorant or antiperspirant is still desired after the treatment, discard any partially used product and open a new product.

No Strenuous Activity

So, though miraDry® has zero downtime, we encourage patients to wait a few days before resuming vigorous exercise and activity. This gives you time to minimize any potential soreness and keep swelling down. All this makes your journey to the results of your dreams, saying goodbye to excessive sweating in Rogers, more enjoyable!

Keep Wearing Loose Clothing

Just like on the day of your treatment, we recommend patients wear loose-fitting tops to avoid underarm irritation for the next few days following care. This keeps rubbing to a minimum, improving your comfort during the minimal recovery period.

miraDry® Frequently Asked Questions

How long does miraDry last?

miraDry® lasts permanently, as the treatment destroys sweat and odor glands in the underarm. These glands will not come back after your miraDry® treatment.

Does miraDry actually work?

Yes, miraDry® actually works! It’s clinically proven to provide 82% sweat reduction and 89% odor reduction in underarms.

How many miraDry treatments do I need?

Though it can vary, our patients typically need 2 to 3 miraDry® treatments for maximum results.

Does miraDry stop hair growth?

Yes, miraDry®’s technology also reduces the hair glands as well as sweat and odor glands. This creates thinner, less dense hair in the area. This is a great benefit to patients who choose miraDry®.

But if you’re not looking to go bare-pit post-treatment, there’s no need to worry! The hair-thinning effect is often only temporary. Though your odor glands are gone for good, your hair will not be.
