How To Treat Dimpled Skin and Skin Laxity

Everyone’s skin is unique, but it can be hard to feel confident in your skin with common concerns like dimpled skin (cellulite) and loose skin (skin laxity). These conditions can hold you back from wearing certain types of clothing and have a negative effect on your self-esteem.

The good news? There are several treatments that target and reduce cellulite and skin laxity to make your skin appear firmer and more youthful. You will love the look and feel of your skin, and you may even feel more empowered to show it off!

Renew Aesthetics is a premier med spa in Rogers, Arkansas that offers advanced cellulite and skin laxity treatments. We serve patients in Northwest Arkansas and specialize in a variety of treatments and services for everyone. Medically supervised by Dr. Kevin Haney, our team of providers create individualized care for each and every Renew patient.

Below, our Renew Aesthetics providers discuss the causes of cellulite and skin laxity, and how we treat these skin issues at our med spa in Rogers, Arkansas.

What cellulite comes from

Dimpled skin occurs from a buildup of fat underneath the skin, known as fat bands or fat chambers. These fat bands build up over time and push pressure outwards and the skin inwards, causing the fat to dimple. Cellulite is incredibly common—80 to 90% of women have it. Cellulite on legs, abdomen, and buttocks are some of the most prevalent areas for cellulite to occur.

The amount of cellulite you have depends on your age, genetics, body fat percentage, and even the thickness of your skin. Dimpled skin can occur at any weight or within any body type.

Since your skin becomes thinner as you age, it’s a predisposition to cellulite for many people. As your skin elasticity reduces, dimpled skin can become more visible. Because of this, many of our patients come to treat both cellulite and skin laxity. (We’ll talk about skin laxity in more detail later!)

Cellulite Treatments for Dimpled Skin

Below is an overview of the advanced cellulite treatments offered at Renew Aesthetics!

Emtone™

Emtone™ is the first and sole treatment that targets all major contributors of cellulite. It uses radiofrequency to target pressured energy to treat cellulite at the source! Its advanced technology creates a smoother, more firm appearance to banish cellulite and create more youthful looking skin!

Emtone™ reduces cellulite on these areas:

      • Abdomen
      • Buttocks
      • Thighs

For the treatment process, your provider will place a grounding pad on the treatment area for your comfort and safety. Depending on the area we treat, the Emtone™ process can take 10 to 30 minutes per area. Most patients will find that 6 Emtone™ treatments yield the best results.

Exilis Ultra

Exilis Ultra works to treat both cellulite and sagging skin. Using radiofrequency dual-energy systems and controlled heat, Exilis stimulates reconstruction and formation of skin tissue. This reduces the appearance and cellulite and tightens the skin!

Exilis is best to treat mild to moderate cellulite and skin laxity. It can treat many areas, including:

      • Thighs
      • Arms
      • Knees
      • Neck
      • Jawline
      • Love handles (flanks)
      • Abdomen
      • Forehead

This non-invasive treatment is painless, in fact, some patients compare the sensation to a hot stone massage. The full procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete, and you do not need to worry about downtime afterward! Most of our patients receive 2 to 4 treatments scheduled 1 to 2 weeks apart for maximum results.

How To Get Rid of Cellulite After Weight Loss

What Causes Sagging Skin?

Skin laxity (loose, sagging skin) is a natural product of gravity and aging. As we get older, our production of collagen and elastin slows down significantly. These two proteins give your skin structure and combat fine lines and wrinkles. The less structure your skin has, the more likely it is to become loose or have a crepey appearance.

Since you naturally have less collagen and elastin as you age, your skin is more prone to loose skin. Genetics genetics and smoking can also contribute to sagging skin. Below are Renew’s treatments that help to tighten skin!

Treatments for Sagging Skin

Like we talked about earlier, Exilis Ultra is also great for skin laxity! It’s a fantastic treatment for patients who want to correct both cellulite and sagging skin.

If you’re looking to treat skin laxity alone, we have a couple other options. If you aren’t sure which treatment is best for you, we can set up a skin consultation to discuss the best option for your individual concerns!

Legend Pro™

Legend Pro tightens the skin and reverses damage with light energy. This light energy creates microchannels in the skin, triggering the healing process and tightening your skin! Legend Pro’s light energy gently heats up in the deeper layers of your skin to create these microchannels. By jumpstarting the body’s healing process, your skin will begin to produce collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins promote skin rejuvenation by giving your skin more structure and “bounce” (elasticity) with a fresh layer of new skin.

Fun fact: Legend Pro is great for all skin types and this treatment is virtually painless! We may recommend a series of Legend Pro treatments based on your skin goals.

Infini RF Microneedling

Infini is an RF microneedling (radiofrequency) treatment designed to target the deeper dermis layer of the skin to promote collagen production and tissue tightening. This regenerative treatment helps to reduce or eliminate skin laxity, wrinkles and fine lines, and scars!

The Infini handpiece device has 49 microscopic needles that penetrate the skin at specified depths. Then, radiofrequency technology heats up the skin to kickstart collagen production to rejuvenate the treatment area.

Speaking of treatment areas, you can also receive Infini microneedling on the neck and chest area to treat skin laxity!

For the Infini treatment process, your provider will apply a topical anesthetic onto your skin prior to treatment. This ensures your comfort throughout the process. Once the anesthetic settles in, we will begin treatment. The high-intensity radiofrequency energy may cause mild discomfort while it penetrates the dermis (deeper layer) of the skin.

After the Infini treatment, you may experience redness for 24 hours, and your skin may also feel rough for 2 to 3 days. Once this recovery period is over, your skin will have a more even appearance and look smoother and tighter. You’ll continue to see skin improvements as collagen production rejuvenates tissue.

For optimal results, Renew providers usually recommend 2 to 4 treatments spaced 1 month apart from each other.

The Process of Cellulite and Skin-Tightening Treatments at Renew

While each cellulite and skin-tightening treatment is unique, we follow a similar format for our treatment process for every treatment at Renew to ensure optimal results for every patient.

Complimentary Skin Consultation

Before any treatment at Renew, we always complete a consultation with you. During this free consultation, you’ll meet with a provider to discuss your skin. You can ask any questions you may have and address any concerns as well. A Renew specialist will listen carefully to your concerns and goals.

Then, we’ll create a treatment plan tailored to you in order to achieve your goals. We may recommend a certain treatment or combination of treatments; we also advise on the number of treatment sessions it will take to get your skin where you want it to be. From there, we will schedule your appointments to treat your skin!

The Treatment Process at Renew

Depending on the treatment, we may use a topical anesthetic on the treatment area before we begin. However, many of our treatments are painless and do not require topical anesthetic. Your provider will inform you about how long the procedure takes and will ensure that you’re comfortable throughout the treatment process.

Results from Cellulite and Skin-Tightening Treatments

Result times will vary depending on your cellulite or skin laxity treatment. You’ll see a reduction in dimpled skin and tighter skin, as well as an overall smoother, firmer appearance!
