It’s that time of year again. Summer is almost over, you’ve been trying to get as much sun time as possible, and you’ve not necessarily been the absolute best about putting on sunscreen 😅
It happens to the best of us, truly. We get it. That’s why we have lovingly dubbed August–October “IPL Season.” It’s that oh-so-common, wonderful time of year when we all need to undo the damage that the summer sun has done to our skin.
After all, prolonged exposure to the sun is the primary cause of premature aging, discoloration, and unwanted freckles. No matter the cause of the issue—maybe you had a day (or 3) at the lake, or maybe your walking route was just 1 mile too long—there are solutions available at Renew Aesthetics.
We offer a variety of treatments to help improve the appearance, texture, and youthful look of your skin. Specifically, Lumecca in Rogers!
The science of the sun
The positive effects of sunlight on the body are unquestionable. It helps us produce vitamin D, and it can help improve mood and mental wellness. I mean, who doesn’t love a sunny day?
Unfortunately, apart from the positive benefits you can get from sunshine, the sun also emits harmful ultraviolet rays that penetrate your skin and wreak havoc.
How the sun impacts your skin
The skin is composed of three distinct layers: the outermost layer called the epidermis, the middle layer called the dermis, and the innermost layer called the subcutis (or subcutaneous tissue or superficial fascia).
The skin’s dermis layer contains substances responsible for maintaining healthy and glowing skin. Two of these substances that greatly influence your complexion are collagen and elastin.
Collagen is a fibrous protein that is responsible for skin strength. Elastin, on the other hand, is a kind of protein that allows the skin to stretch and return to its original firmness and appearance. When your skin has enough collagen and elastin, it is smoother, healthier, and younger-looking.
Unfortunately, when your skin absorbs a significant amount of UV rays from the sun, the UV rays penetrate deep into the dermis and damage the collagen fibers and elastin. This lessens their production and worsens the health and appearance of your skin.
This process is known as photoaging. If you’re not worried about this condition just because you’re in your 20s, you should know that studies have shown how young people who are exposed to a great number of UV rays also suffer from photoaging.
Photoaging, and what to look for
When your skin ages prematurely because of sun exposure, it becomes a problem. Nobody wants to be less comfortable or confident in their skin! If you’re starting to notice some of these issues, you should come take a look at Lumecca in Rogers.
Here are the clinical signs of photoaging to be on the lookout for:
- Wrinkles
- Uneven skin color
- Dry skin
- Loss of skin tone in sun-exposed areas
- Redness
- Spider veins on the nose, cheeks, and neck
Lumecca in Rogers is a fast and effective solution!
The Lumecca IPL treats a wide array of skin concerns delivering pulse energy with a custom xenon flash lamp to absorb hemoglobin and melanin for complete photo-rejuvenation. It’s especially good at targeting unevenness in skin tone, color, and pigment.

This means it can help refresh your skin, erase existing damage, and prevent photoaging!
Using photothermolysis, the most powerful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) targets pigment by quickly renewing your skin’s clarity, leaving you looking years younger. This works by sending intense beams of light into your tissue to break up areas of hyperpigmentation.
Facial Spider Veins
This works much the same way when tackling facial spider veins and other vascular lesions. By sending out precise wavelengths, the light energy targets the pigmented colors or vessels in your skin. This intense pulsed light constricts and breaks apart superficial facial veins, leaving your skin clearer and your skin tone even.
Age Spots
For age spots, freckles, and other discolorations, we use multiple wavelengths to deliver energy into the pigment-producing cells in your skin, which absorb the energy as heat, effectively destroying them.
Here’s how Lumecca in Rogers works at Renew Aesthetics
The treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes. To start Lumecca , the technician will clean and dry the skin to be treated before covering your eyes with shields. Then, we administer the photofacial using a handheld device that passes over the skin while emitting pulses of light energy.
While most patients may feel a slight tingling discomfort during the photofacial, we find it is usually very tolerable—especially with the quick treatment time.
Lumecca FAQs
Interested in learning more? We’ve compiled all the questions we get from patients about Lumecca IPL in Rogers and thought we’d take some time to go over them!
Who are the best candidates for Lumecca?
Ideal candidates for a Lumecca treatment may have sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), rough texture, large pores, flushing, freckles, age and sun spots, or spider veins. Our aesthetic team will assess your skin to see if you are a candidate for Lumecca treatments in Rogers during your private consultation.
Will one Lumecca treatment make a difference?
There are many benefits of Lumecca IPL technology, even with just one treatment. Lumecca won’t make hyperpigmentation, spider veins, or sun spots disappear after your first appointment, but most patients report improvements in the tone and condition of their skin. Ideal results typically come from 4 to 6 treatments, maintained with proper skin care and protection from the sun.
Can Lumecca’s IPL technology damage your skin?
There is minimal risk of skin damage resulting from intense pulsed light therapy. The whole point of this treatment is to reverse damaged conditions! Lumecca treatments are entirely non-invasive and gentle enough for literally all skin types and tones.
Is Lumecca permanent?
When it comes to any anti-aging or damage-reversing treatment, there are no permanent results. With time, you will continue to age naturally. However, Lumecca does keep your skin looking and feeling younger, and—with proper skin care—you can keep your skin from photoaging for quite some time.
If you’re using IPL to treat deeper skin concerns, such as wrinkles and skin laxity, results will last as long as the collagen production increase is in effect. Our expert aesthetic team helps determine what the ideal frequency for treatments would be to keep your wrinkles at bay.
Is Lumecca the same thing as a laser facial?
Nope! Though both involve a handpiece that we use to flash lights onto your skin, their function and effect are pretty different.
Laser treatments utilize monochromatic light, typically infrared light. IPL treatments utilize broadband light, which includes all light energies in the color spectrum. What this means is a laser facial uses far more focused light energy than the comparatively broad light wavelengths used in Lumecca IPL. Therefore, Lumecca IPL provides a gentler option for anyone who wants to tackle sun damage without the downtime often associated with laser facials.
What is Lumecca recovery like?
One of the best things about intense light therapy treatments like Lumecca in Rogers is the total lack of a recovery period!
You will leave your appointment with a little red and swollen skin that will go down by itself in about a day. Renew Aesthetics recommends patients use an ointment on the skin to decrease irritation and speed healing. It also helps to take anti-inflammatory medication to help reduce swelling.
After several days, the irregularities that once rested under the skin will come to the surface and flake off. It is necessary to keep your skin protected from the sun after a Lumecca treatment and to not pick at your skin while it heals.
Will I need follow-up Lumecca treatments?
While you should see visible results after the first session, your skin will attain the best results after several photofacial treatments. Our aesthetic team recommends approximately 4 to 6 treatments about three weeks apart. When you come in for your consultation and first Lumecca appointment, we will ensure you have a thorough understanding of what to expect and the timeline of your results.
How can I help my skin recover after a resurfacing treatment?
A team member will provide you with recommendations on how you can help your skin heal after a Lumecca treatment. The most important thing to remember is not to pick or peel your skin. We know it’ll be tough, but trust us, restraint is necessary. Picking or peeling could create lasting damage, including scars.
You should skip all shaving and/or waxing in any treated areas until the skin has completely peeled away. We also offer soothing ointments and serums to help keep your skin comfortable following your treatment!
How much does Lumecca in Rogers cost?
Lumecca treatment costs will likely vary from patient to patient based on the size and depth of the treatment area and how long the treatment lasts. We will discuss all of these factors with you during your initial consultation to determine the best treatment course for you and the final price.
In addition, Renew Aesthetics’ membership plan offers deals and discounts on regular treatments ✨ You should check it out!
