This is probably one of the most common questions that we hear about the Q-Switch process, which is understandable. Tattoo removal lasers have somewhat of an intense reputation, but we always do everything we can to keep you comfortable during every single one of our treatments. It is impossible to predict how many treatments you’ll need without meeting with you in person. We will never give you more treatments than is absolutely necessary, but we can’t promise that this will be a one-and-done procedure. The number of treatments you’ll need will depend entirely on the specifics of your tattoo. If you have a large sleeve, then it will certainly take much longer than someone with a single, small tattoo. We will, however, be sure to keep you updated during the process, so you never feel out of the loop.

We’ll also take a look at your skin’s condition and your tattoo itself. This will give us a better idea of how you can prepare for the tattoo removal process. You will need to stop taking any blood thinners, and you will need to keep your skin protected from the sun prior to the removal. After your treatment is scheduled, we will give you detailed pre-treatment instructions to help you get ready for your Q-Switch session.

While the Q-Switch will not leave you stuck in a hospital bed recovering, you will need to take some steps to ensure that your skin heals as effectively as possible. We don’t want your skin to become damaged or infected. Following the procedure, the treated skin will be raw and red. It may even blister, depending on the specific qualities of your skin. We will recommend methods you can take to soothe irritated skin, including using ointments like aloe vera. We will also suggest that you keep the treatment area bandaged and out of direct sun exposure. Further instructions will be provided based on your specific skin needs.

There are some side effects of the Q-Switch machine. Not only will you notice redness in the skin, but you may also notice the tone of your skin brighten or darken, albeit temporarily. You shouldn’t notice any permanent scarring, as our providers are highly trained in operating the Q-Switch for tattoo removal in Rogers, AR.
